Looking Back - A message from Katy

As a Christian, there are no coincidences with God. He has everything perfectly planned. ~

In the last week of May 2010, my cousin was in a car accident that required surgery and a hospital stay at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. While visiting with him, I noticed a book in his room...a children's version of the Guinness Book of World Records. To pass the time, we flipped through the pages. At that moment, for the first time ever, I saw Elaine Davidson..the world's most pierced woman. I spent some time reading her story. Everyone in the room with me talked about her briefly, (negatively) & then she was soon forgotten. How could I have known that God was preparing me to meet her in person?--and half way across the world??
Of all the places in the world desperate for the Gospel, Scotland did not appear to be the most needy..yet I felt God leading me there. At the time, I had no idea that the city of Glasgow is the crime capital of Britain..and one of the most dangerous cities in the world.
Street ministry was one of our most effective ways to evangelize. One morning we went into Glasgow, and there, peddling on the busy main street..was Elaine Davidson. For a donation, she would allow you to take a picture of her. Elaine has over 6700 body piercings. Because of your prayers & donations, this was Elaine's first time EVER to hear about the saving love of Jesus. Her response? "How could your God love someone like me who has done so much to herself?"
She was so hungry for God's word. We spent three hours explaining God's love for her, from Adam & Eve to the resurrection, until she understood. Elaine did not accept Jesus that day, but she was receptive to the Truth and a seed was planted. Because of your willingness to obey the Spirit, we were given the opportunity to share true Love with her. May God bless you. I so humbly thank you...and so does Elaine.          ~Randi (Katy)

Please continue to pray for Elaine.

DeCLarAtion OF A World CHanger

Today, I will live honorably through my thoughts, actions, and speech. I choose to be full of faith; I will not only be a hearer but a doer of the Word of God. I will serve before I demand, I will love and not hate, and I will give before I take. Today, I choose to make a difference in this world and to be a part of something bigger than myself. I choose to dedicate my life to prayer and ask God for His miraculous power and the courage to do the impossible. I will make Godly relationships a priority in my life as I esteem others higher than myself. Today, I will live my life in such a way that I will Change the World. ~~

Mission Accomplished!

The missionaries have had an amazing 26 days! They have prayed, painted, hiked, skated, landscaped, laughed, cried, sung, acted, ministered...and loved. They have bonded and made friendships that will last a lifetime. They have changed the lives of others, as well as their own. In their last few days at headquarters in Texas, they will share stories and hear about the other missions. They will prepare to head home and continue to change the world, in their own hometowns. To God be all the glory.

'Fun Day' in Edinburgh

Alas, Tuesday was their final day in Scotland. They spent their 'fun day' in the capital city of Edinburgh. They shopped for souvenirs and toured historical sites, including the famous Edinburgh Castle . Click the link to see more of this magnificent castle!

In His Service

Working with Overtoun House they partner with area churches, skate parks and a local elderly home to do service projects and personal evangelism. On certain evenings, they run 'youth nights' where they  hang out with 16-25 yr olds, getting to know them and sharing Jesus. They also perform their drama in the city streets of Glasgow.  One day, the team was practicing their drama and noticed two random teenagers hanging around outside the center.  They invited them in to ‘judge’ the drama and get their feedback.  By the time they were done, the 2 teenagers had both made commitments to Christ and have been back to the church for other events since then. God is moving...in Scotland.
You can see 'Katy' in her yellow converse shoes in the 1st pic (yes, she is a proud member of The Converse Crew). You can also see her in the last two pics in the skate park.
